How does morale work in My Legacy, and why does it keep falling?
Morale runs 0–100 and everything hinges on 70. At 70 or above, nothing is wrong — your stats perform at their stated value. Below 70, three things degrade in proportion to how far down you are: match performance, injury risk and training success. The important part is that morale is an asymmetric attractor at 70: above it, morale decays back down toward 70; below it, morale accelerates further down. There is no automatic bounce-back. A low-morale run is a genuine spiral you have to actively break.
Morale is the most commonly misread number in My Legacy, because it does not behave like the mood bars in most career games. This is exactly how it works.
The one rule: 70 is the line
There is a single threshold used by every formula and every piece of UI in the game.
At 70+, everything performs at its stated value. Below 70, things underperform in proportion to how far below you are.
Two consequences people usually get wrong:
Above 70 is flat. Morale 100 does not make you better than morale 70. It is not a bonus zone — it is a buffer. All the extra points buy you is time before you fall below the line.
Just under 70 already hurts. There is no grace band. At morale 60 — only ten points down — your injury risk is already up by roughly 45%.
The four bands
| Band | Range | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| 🟢 Good | 70–100 | Baseline. Nothing is being penalised. |
| 🟡 Concerning | 55–69 | Mild penalties have started |
| 🟠 Low | 35–54 | Meaningfully hurting performance and injury risk |
| 🔴 Critical | 0–34 | Severe. Needs active intervention. |
What low morale actually does
Three systems read your morale, and they are the three that matter most.
Match performance
Your per-match rating is multiplied by 0.60 + morale/100 × 0.55. That is −40% at morale 0 and +15% at morale 100. Note how front-loaded it is: losing morale hurts you far more than gaining it helps you. Two more factors — fitness and duels — carry their own penalties on top, each landing around −34% at morale 0 and both exactly zero at morale 70.
Injury risk
This is the one that ends careers.
| Morale | Injury risk |
|---|---|
| 70+ | baseline |
| 60 | +45% |
| 0 | +315% |
Yes — ten points below the line is nearly a 50% increase. At rock bottom, your injury risk more than quadruples. It is capped rather than uncapped, deliberately, because injuries themselves drain morale and an uncapped version would be unrecoverable.
It is also temporary. High injury risk from low morale does not permanently change how injury-prone your player is.
Training success
−7.5% at morale 60, sliding down to a floor of −50% at rock bottom. So the season you most need to train your way out of a slump is the season training works worst.
What morale does not do
Your long-run stat growth and decline ignore morale entirely. This is deliberate: a rough patch suppresses what you can use right now, but not who you actually are. You do not permanently lose ability by having a bad year.
The spiral — the part that surprises people
Morale drifts every phase, and the drift is asymmetric around 70.
- Above 70, it decays down toward 70. A good mood fades. Nothing holds at 100 without fresh positive input — a maxed-out morale decays back toward the line within about a season.
- Below 70, it accelerates away from 70. The further down you are, the faster you fall.
- 70 is the only resting point, with no buffer on either side. One bad event at exactly 70 starts the spiral on the very next phase.
Per-phase drift, for a player with average mental:
| Morale | Drift per phase |
|---|---|
| 100 | −3.6 |
| 85 | −1.8 |
| 70 | 0 |
| 60 | −0.68 |
| 45 | −1.69 |
| 30 | −2.7 |
| 10 | −4.05 |
Read that bottom row again. At morale 10 you are losing four points per phase, and there are five phases in a season. Nothing pulls you back up on its own. This is why a bad run in My Legacy compounds instead of correcting.
Mental is your armour
Your mental stat does three separate jobs, which makes it one of the best long-term investments in the game.
- It is a real skill — it feeds goalkeeping and several match-rating formulas.
- It dampens every consequence of low morale. At mental 100, low morale bites roughly half as hard. At morale 0, a high-mental player takes about +210% injury risk instead of +315%.
- It multiplies your active recovery — see the psychologist below.
What mental does not do is stop morale from falling. A mentally strong player can still be miserable; it just costs them less.
How to actually get out of a spiral
There are three things that work and one that does not.
1. Fix the real problem. Pay off the debt, repair the relationship, get out of the club where you are not playing. This is the only recovery without a cap on it. Note in particular the season-end debt penalty: if you are 18 or over and your projected balance after the season settles is negative, you take a flat −3 morale — and it fires again every season you stay in the red. Three seasons in debt is −3, three times.
2. See the sports psychologist. The mental_therapy_session action never fails, costs nothing, and is usable once per season. What you get scales with mental:
| Mental | Morale gained |
|---|---|
| 80+ | +5 |
| 60–79 | +4 |
| 40–59 | +3 |
| 0–39 | +2 |
Morale is its own action category with two actions per season, so this does not compete with your training budget the way it used to.
3. Use the morale popup when you are in the danger zone. Tap the morale stat anywhere it appears and you get relief options whose value scales with how bad things are:
| Your morale | Rewarded ad | Jeton option |
|---|---|---|
| Below 40 (danger) | +25 | +25 for 5 jetons |
| 40–69 (recovery) | +15 | +15 for 5 jetons |
| 70+ (luxury) | +5 | +10 for 8 jetons |
Note that the ad and the jetons are worth exactly the same in the two lower zones — you only pay a premium for topping up when you are already fine. And this is relief, not a cure: the ambient drift keeps running regardless. It buys you time to fix the actual cause.
What does not work: waiting. There is no passive recovery below 70.
The practical strategy
- Treat 70 as a hard floor, not a target. Bank morale above it when things are going well, because that buffer is the only thing that absorbs a bad event without starting a spiral.
- Invest in mental early. It is the only stat that reduces the damage from every future bad patch.
- Never carry debt across a season end. The −3 is recurring, and it stacks with whatever put you in debt in the first place.
- Act at 65, not at 35. The drift table is the argument: the cost of intervening is roughly flat, the cost of not intervening accelerates.
- When you are already low, prioritise not getting injured. At +45% risk from morale 60 alone, a low-morale season is when careers get cut short.
FAQ
What is a good morale level in My Legacy?
70 or above. Above 70 there is no additional bonus — morale 100 performs identically to morale 70 — so the value of a high number is purely as a buffer before you drop below the line.
Why does my morale keep dropping even when nothing bad happens?
Because morale drifts toward 70 from above and away from 70 from below. If you are above 70, that decay is normal and expected. If you are below 70, the drift is pushing you further down every phase, and it accelerates the lower you get.
How do I raise morale fast in My Legacy?
The sports psychologist action is free, never fails and gives +2 to +5 depending on your mental stat. The morale popup offers +15 or +25 from a rewarded ad when you are below 70. Both are stopgaps — the only uncapped fix is solving what caused the drop.
Does high morale make my player better?
No. Above 70, morale has no positive effect on performance. It only matters below 70, where it penalises match performance, injury risk and training success.
Does low morale permanently damage my player?
No. Morale suppresses your current effective performance and raises injury risk temporarily, but your underlying stat growth and decline are calculated from your real stats and ignore morale entirely.
How does the mental stat affect morale?
Mental does not stop morale from falling, but it reduces every consequence of low morale by up to half, slows how fast you spiral downward, and increases how much you gain from the sports psychologist.
