How do family and life outside football work in My Legacy?
My Legacy generates a full family from your birthplace and nationality — parents, a sibling, uncles, aunts, grandparents, a cousin, a childhood friend and a roommate — each with their own closeness, support, pressure, mood, personality and financial situation. If you ignore someone, their closeness decays, and it decays faster the further they are from your core. Ignore your mother for a season and you lose 1 point; ignore your childhood friend and you lose 3. And you only get 3–4 actions per season across the entire game, so keeping people close is a real cost measured against training, health and money.
The four-action constraint — the thing everything else hangs on
Before the family system makes sense, you need this number:
`` Actions per season = 3 if under 18 3 if health below 45 4 otherwise ``
Three or four actions. That is your whole season, across every category. Per-category caps sit on top:
| Category | Max per season |
|---|---|
| Talent (training) | 2 |
| Health | 2 if health below 50, otherwise 1 |
| Mental | 2 |
| Morale | 2 |
| Adaptation | 2 |
| Money | 1 |
| Life | 1 |
| Family | 1 |
| Education | 1 |
You cannot train, look after your health, manage your money, see your family and fix your morale in the same season. That is the game. Every season is a genuine trade-off, and the family system is one of the things competing for those four slots.
Who gets generated
At career creation, deterministically from your birthplace and nationality:
Core family — mother, father, sibling. Extended family — paternal uncle, maternal uncle, aunt, grandfather, grandmother, cousin. Social circle — childhood friend, academy or dorm roommate.
What each person is
Everyone carries:
Closeness (0–99), banded:
| Value | What they are to you |
|---|---|
| 85+ | Your Greatest Supporter |
| 70+ | Very Close |
| 50+ | Close |
| 30+ | Normal |
| 15+ | Distant |
| Below 15 | Estranged |
Support (0–99) — how much of a morale cushion they provide when things go wrong. Pressure (0–99) — how much expectation they put on you. Mood — happy, proud, worried, sad, hurt or sulking. Personality tags — for example selfless, protective, or ex-footballer, domineering, or irresponsible, starstruck. Financial state — struggling, getting by, comfortable or wealthy. Health state — healthy, chronic condition, ill or deceased.
Above them sit three top-level meters: Family Support (your buffer in a crisis), Family Pride (rises with trophies, call-ups, rising value and money you send home) and Family Distance (rises the further you play from home and the less you call).
Neglect — the table worth memorising
Ignore someone and their closeness decays every season. It accelerates, and it is harsher the further they are from your core:
| Who | 1 season | 2 seasons | 3 seasons | 4+ seasons |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Core family (mother, father, sibling) | −1 | −2 | −4 | −6 |
| Extended family (uncles, aunts, grandparents, cousin) | −2 | −4 | −6 | −8 |
| Childhood friend / social circle | −3 | −5 | −7 | −8 |
Your childhood friend forgets you three times faster than your mother does. That is the design in one line, and it is uncomfortably true to life.
Two more thresholds:
- Neglect your core family for two consecutive seasons and their mood turns sad.
- Neglect them for four or more and their mood turns hurt and the pressure they put on you goes up.
That second one is the trap. Ignoring your family does not just cost you their support — eventually it actively adds pressure.
What you can do about it
General actions:
- Spend time — +5 closeness, reduces your stress
- Send money — improves their finances, raises family pride and closeness
- Ask for support — converts family goodwill into morale during a bad run or a crisis
- Have an honest talk — clears resentment and lowers family pressure
- Visit your hometown — refreshes relationships with everyone at once
That last one is the efficient play, given you only have one family action per season.
Personal actions, two per season:
- Father, if he is an ex-footballer — specialist tactical advice, worth a performance or form bonus
- Mother — buy her a house or a holiday, which maxes her closeness at 99 and spikes family pride
- Sibling — pay for their schooling, buy them a car, or make them your agent
- A relative — clear their debts or fund a business for them
The story chains
Family is not only a meter. There are multi-step branching narratives whose outcome depends on your choices:
- Your sibling's school costs — three steps, decides their future
- A parent falls ill — three steps, including the direct choice between playing the match and being at the operation
- A family feud — two steps, an inheritance dispute between relatives
- Building the family a house back home — two steps
- A gambling crisis — two steps, intervening in a relative's or sibling's debt spiral
These are the moments the game is actually about. There is no correct answer to being asked to choose between a cup final and an operating theatre.
How to play it
- The hometown visit is your best single family action — it touches everyone at once, and you only get one family slot per season.
- Protect your core family first. They decay slowest, so they are the cheapest to maintain, and they are your biggest morale cushion when a season goes badly.
- Accept that you will lose the childhood friend unless you deliberately spend on him. At −3 a season accelerating to −8, that relationship is expensive.
- Never let core family reach four seasons of neglect. That is the point where they stop being neutral and start adding pressure.
- Buy your mother a house when you can afford it. It maxes closeness at 99 in one action and spikes pride — the single most efficient family action in the game.
- "Ask for support" is a crisis tool, not a routine one. Bank the goodwill and spend it in a bad season, where it converts into morale exactly when morale is dangerous to lose.
FAQ
How many actions do you get per season in My Legacy?
Three or four. You get three if you are under 18 or if your health is below 45, otherwise four. Category caps apply on top: two for training, mental, morale and adaptation, and only one each for money, life, family and education.
Does family actually matter in My Legacy?
Yes. Family Support is a real morale buffer during crises, and neglected relationships lose closeness every season on an accelerating curve — and after four seasons of neglect your core family starts adding pressure rather than just withdrawing support.
How fast do relationships decay in My Legacy?
Core family loses 1 point after one ignored season, rising to 6 by the fourth. Extended family loses 2 rising to 8. Your childhood friend loses 3 in the first season, rising to 8. Closer relationships are more forgiving.
What is the best family action in My Legacy?
Visiting your hometown, because it refreshes everyone at once and you only have one family action slot per season. If you can afford it, buying your mother a house maxes her closeness at 99 in a single action.
Can my family hurt my career in My Legacy?
Yes. Neglected core family raises the pressure they place on you after four seasons. Story chains can also force real costs — a parent's illness can put an operation directly against a match, and a relative's gambling debts can pull on your money.
Can I make my sibling my agent?
Yes, it is one of the personal actions available with a sibling. Agent quality and network feed directly into your transfer visibility and into how interested clubs are in signing you.
